19 of the Russian's 21 titles have been won on hard surfaces

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev won his maiden championship for over two years with victory over Corentin Moutet in the competition final.

Medvedev, a former top-ranked player, has had a challenging season, managing just one win at the major tournaments and experiencing a meltdown at the American major.

His inconsistency on the professional circuit - and issues with his serve in specific - resulted in him falling of the world's top 10 and finally separating with long-term trainer Cervara.

Currently training with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has gradually progressed in the past month - climaxing in a closely contested competitive victory over opponent Moutet.

It is the player's first championship following the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard surface after March of the previous year.

Success also indicates the Russian has won 21 victories at 21 distinct tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a competition with my children together, so to get a title is really nice," stated world number 14 the champion.

"This title is in honour of my second daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I won when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his past six title deciders, comprising in the German tournament earlier this year.

The player's counter-punching approach and frequent emotional displays on court had caused commentators to doubt if his capacity to compete at the top level was concluded.

However the 29-year-old has altered his approach in recent weeks, striving to advance forward and play positively, backed up by an enhanced service.

The champion fought back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the challenging opponent, winning 4 of the last five exchanges to gain the advantage.

The competitors traded break points in the middle set before the challenger, striving for his first tour title, gained dominance to force a decider.

The opponent defended 4 early break points in a competitive final set before the champion secured a break to fifteen to close out the victory.

Appropriately, he secured the win with a rally at the front of the court, with the Frenchman unable to manage a return after a lengthy match.
